- UNFORTUNATELY, we have to open this update with the sad news that Mr. John Butler passed away Tuesday morning. Golfers and friends were hoping to be able to share some time with him during the upcoming "Battle for Butler" scramble (March 30, 8:30 a.m.), but will have to settle for a memory. Mr. Butler's wife, Karlese Butler, their kids, Tristen and Kyler and John Butler Sr. will be on site. To enter, call the pro-shop (580-225-3556), Shawn Wilson (580-515-5326) or Sara Peffer (580-821-4435) to enter the scramble. All donations are welcome. There are more than 12 teams already signed up, to see list of teams thus far entered in the event, click here.
- Congratulations to Berek Dyson who, even after a couple of bogeys on the closing holes, ended up with a 73 which was good enough to be the medalist at the "Lawton OK High School Invitational". Berek's score beat teammate Joby Gray by two shots and helped the team to a second place overall. Cameron Marcum (82), Brock Walker (83) and Logan Gore (83) completed the remaining team scores. Berek, who also played football and basketball, skipped practice during the winter, but was never too far from golf, and for the last month, you could find him almost every afternoon either hitting balls or practicing his short game around the putting clock. Practice pays off!
- A day after the boys tournament, Elk City's Kelsi Wilson won in Sayre! Kelsi is another Elk who practices every day and who has golf deep down in her blood. Congratulations!
