Bad weather has kept many members from visiting the golf course, so here are some updates..
1. One tournament has been added to our calendar: "Battle for Butler". A one day scramble to benefit the John Butler family. John Butler is the Assistant Superintendent at Elk City High School and fighting a very aggressive form of cancer. Sara Peffer is the tournament chairman (580-821-4435). The event will open our tournament season on Saturday, March 30. This is the first time we will start our season with three fundraisers: March 30, Battle for Butler; April 6, Boy Scouts, (Brad Harguess - 580-799-5482); and April 20 "Kourage for Korbin" (Scott Hines - 580-821-0870)
2. For those who like a little fun, inexpensive competition and at the same time would like to meet other members to play with, come and join us every Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The cost is only $25.00 p/player. We will draw for pairings and teams. You will play your own ball and we will help you establish a local handicap. There will be team (not a scramble) and individual play.... and it will be fun! IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES!
3. SPECIALS: The Titleist "Loyalty Program" is back! Order three dozens of Prov1 or Prov1x balls, and receive an additional dozen for free (our low price of $48.95 per dozen applies, so, for $146.85, you get 4 dozens of premium balls - it averages to $36.71 per dozen!) Call us at 580-225-3556 or email us for details. All 2012 bags are $25 off, and all 2012 clubs have been reduced (we have G20 line, Callways, etc!)
4. THIS APRIL WILL BE OUR BUSIEST MONTH EVER! 4 High School tournaments, including the Western Regional. If you want to help, please let us know!! (April 8 Girls, April 10 Boys, April 23 Girls Regional, April 29, Boys Regional), plus the tournaments mentioned in paragraph 2 and the start of the Tuesday Men's Scramble. AGAIN, WE NEED HELP!!!
5. Don't forget!!! This year we have two "demo" days; April 2 we have Taylor Made and all of their RBZ and R1 line; and on April 16, we will host Titleist (so far Rory might be regretting his change of clubs!); Callaway with all of the XHot line and PING with all of their G25 and i20 lines!
6. Tuesday Men's Scramble will start April 2.... following Taylor Made's demo day presentation!
7. My daughter Anya wants you to know about her a little more, so she will be writing in this blog once a month about her life on the Symetra Tour. A more insightful view to the life of professionals not yet on the "Big Leagues"! ("Anya's Corner")
8. Greens were "deep-tined" (aerification was 8"-10" deep) and top dressed on March 5-7; also because of weather conditions, this procedure was delayed from March 4-5. Nonetheless, you should be able to see the surfaces in great shape by mid to late April.

9. This is worth reading and sharing a good laugh. During a press conference, Tiger was asked the following question: “You know that for some time now materials with origins in aerospace industry – i.e. titanium – have been used in club construction. In fact, Nike engineers have to contend with the same challenges as do aircraft and automobile manufacturers, such as weight, structural rigidity, elasticity, tension uniformity and deformation. Current regulations permit day-to-day club characteristics modifications, but no changes once the clubs are in play for a given round. The question is, as the science of club making advances, would you advocate rules modifications that permit real-time adjustments based on club conditions and player performance, and… if unlimited design and construction resources were placed at your disposal, what would be your criteria for a perfect driver?” Said one Tiger Woods “Can you repeat that?” (Tiger passed this "press question and answer test" with an A+!)
